Thanks for the thumbsup on the pictures. Credit for 95% of them goes to Mrs MacSid, though.

I ended up spending most of my time either behind the wheel or making sure we had everyone together... and I'm already thinking ahead to April. We really should push for a full weekend in Munich and BWM Welt plus a factory tour.
Maybe with a possibility to join for just one day for the people who have kids, but really want to come next meet ?!?

Definitely! We got 6 months between now and April to work it all out, and the idea is definitely to get as many of us as possible to be able to join in, whether it is just for a couple of hours or for an entire weekend

We need to plan this ahead of time though in order to get a group visit in BMW Welt + some reasonable prices on hotels.
Just out of curiosity, I just checked first weekend in April (3-5 Apr 2009) for some decent accomodation, and 4-Start hotels in Munich start at 70 EUR, and 5-star already at 90 EUR/night (for example: very nice 5-star Hilton in Munich starts at 89 EUR if booked in advance at least of 21 days, meaning... the sooner the cheaper)
I would suggest to already make a first research about the BMW group tour + maybe Dingolfing tour, in order to get things started ASAP...

I agree. I stayed in the Holiday Inn (LEOPOLDSTRASSE 194) in August and it is showing prices from 80 Euros for that weekend at the moment.
But we need to get the BMW timings sorted first. If they can only fit us in at Dingolfing at 9am on Saturday, we may need to stay closer to there on Friday night?

I agree Simon, travelling there the day before is probably wise, however that is a Friday and the autobahns could be busy. I would probably take a day off to do the journey and make a long weekend of it

I know Munich pretty well, have a friend who works at BMW in Munich and have a very close friend in Munich who could advise us on where to stay / head out in the evening -- well he would join us! Its an awesome city, so if possible we should make a weekend of it, but I also appreciate that it is not quite so straight forward for those with families. As always, its just a matter of doing detailed planning in a timely manner, which we know we can do

I guess the first step is to see what is possible with BMW Welt and take it from there.
We can then start building up options for those staying for a weekend / day / reserved long in advance / last minute decisions to join or cancel.

Exciting stuff!!

This is not really relevant here so I have started a new topic in the lounge!
