I know what you mean about the autobahn -- enjoy it while you still can
We are going to drive to and from Hamburg tomorrow afternoon - without any luggage in the car - just so that Mira can break 220km/h!

After checking out BMW Welt, we went for a spot of lunch on the restaurant terrace outside BMW Museum, which overlooked the BMW Welt with Z1s outside. The food was great, the location obviously also spot on and the prices very reasonable -- definitely to be recommended for a simple light lunch.

I just realised that I only took one pic of the M cars I thought my wife had taken pics of all of them. At least I managed to get this one...

You then walk around the corner to the Touring Car hall and a sliding door flashes open and you are confronted with this

You then turn right and are confronted with some of the meanest looking cars I have ever laid eyes on
I was just in awe of the cars in this hall, absolutely awesome, especially the 3.0 CSL "Batmobile"

Beautiful pics, especially on the drive south of Munich going into the mountains. Totally makes me want to do an ED for my next BMW.

Our cars were built to be driven in Germany! ED would be an incredible experience; doing the BMW Welt / Museum tours, out on to the autobahn, and cruising through the mountains and down towards Italy etc. And all in your new pride and joy

Damn. I must have had my head up my ass the weekend that was happening. I totally never noticed.

Amazed to hear of the problems some of you guys had. These things are born to drive 250kmh all day long. Was my map I'd posted a month or two back showing some of the best places you can reach Vmax any use to anyone?

I was a little surprised when you didn't sign up, but hey, these things happen

We certainly took advantage of the deresticted stretch on the A9 (from your map) heading towards Munich on the Friday, where the 3 of us were "cruising" at 240kmh, but there was too much traffic to go for more. Saturday night was awesome though when coming back up to Munich on the A95... a very long stretch of derestricted empty autobahn and I had the needle gliding between 230 and 260kmh most of the way. That was a real kick and just shows what these cars are designed to do. (That was the last run leading up to my manifold and turbo breaking, but hey, thats another story and would have happened sooner or later anyway )

Shame you missed it, you would have loved the cruise. Maybe you can check it anyway some time, just look a few pages back to the organisation post and you'll find a map and instructions for the root
