Thanx everyone for your advice. I see there are many opinions on the Prague issue. Clearly a mixed message. I really appreciate everyone taking the time to respond. You folks are great!!!

Better late than never! We drove from Salzburg to Prague with our ED 545. No problems at all - the roads were great all ther way. We did a short side trip through Pilsen on the way. I agree with the recomendations for parking the car in a secure hotel garage. We used the Four Seasons which is walking distance to many great sites/areas. Also, there were many very nice cars parked on the streets. BTW - the drive from Prague to Vienna was also very nice. Good luck with your trip!

Don't even think about taking a cab on the street - those guys are gangsters and they'll most likely try to rip you off. If you really have to, call a reliable taxi company by phone (AAA Taxi...) or agree a fixed price in advance.
This is good advice! Use the metro and street cars. Buy a 2-3 day ticket from a tabbaco shop and hop on and off all you want. Make sure you have a ticket though as I saw the metro police handing out fines on the spot to folks who didn't. And don't forget the worlds best beer

Come on guys, I come from Prague
So if anyone needs some advice about visiting let me know or even perhaps we can meet.

I would say that you can come with your car, you will enjoy the road from German border to Prague. You can do as much as the car will let you...... blast. No police and if so 100USD will let you go, well probably even less will let you go since I doubt the highway patrol speaks english. Prague is great to visit. You can come here and leave the car in the garage of the some major hotel and you will be safe.... Hilton, Marriott..... You do not need the car in the city because it is relatively small and public transport is great. Plus I doubt you will hesitate to the lovely beer pubs and girls.,,, while walking around.

Let me know when you coming and I can even escort with my E60 from the highway to downtown or a hotel
