I did a test run ON the Fourth of July - late afternoon.? I thought it would be crawling with people trying to see the fireworks.? On my 80-mile run I only caught up to approx. 5 cars going uphill.? There are also side roads where I ran into no one.? I'll do another morning run and see what the diff. may be.? I hear the biker clubs are on the hill as well.? I'm just hoping with all the fires, they don't close down the road.
As far as how long it's going to take...typically 30+ to meet up and wait for everyone, about one hour for the drive...up and down the hill.? We can choose to eat or not eat after.

Angeles crest is fine with me, but if on your second run this weekend you find much traffic, may I suggest glendora ridge road off the 210 fwy, azusa exit. I recently discovered this road and actually did my first full run yesterday. One of the best roads I've been on, with some super tight turns intermixed with some smooth sweepers and a view for days.
I did the run in a smaller coupe and would love to find out how the 5er does up there.
BTW, if anyone is interested, there's a couple meets this sunday, the 17th. One is with the M5 board http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/showthrea...63&page=3&pp=35
They're meeting in valencia at 7:30 a.m. and driving up to ojai. I'd like to go to this, but valencia is a good hour away from me and the drive itself looks to be quite a trek, so I'll probably pass.
There's also a UCLA meet on the 17th at 12:00. This meet has been posted on various bmw boards and I believe has turned into a euro meet. After meeting at UCLA, they're planning to drive through malibu. I might go to this to check out some modded M3s as a competition spec M3 may be in my future

I'm tentatively planning another MEET - thinking of Sunday July 24th or August 1st.? I'm thinking we would start early in the morning again, (no rain this time!), at a to-be-announced Startbucks location.? If everyone is tired of Malibu, how does up Los Angeles Crest Highway with a stop at Mt Wilson sound?? I'll take any suggestions...I just thought more Inland Empire folk may show up and still get some of you more south or north of LA.? Just putting it out there...any thoughts?? (Pastries and doughnuts are on me!)
B on B on B
P.S.
For those of you that may be more adventurous, I'm also making plans for a weekend trip somewhere between S.F. and L.A. - still working on an interesting route and contacting hotels and eateries for prices and availabilities.? Dates tbd.? I'm thinking some time in the Fall - before rainy weather again.
