That was a bit of a disappointment seeing them take that (IMHO) overly aggressive approach, but I assume it was the only way they felt they could disrupt the Spanish game, after seeing the Spanish run circles around the Germans.
It was a disgrace to hear the Dutch fans response as the Referee team got their medals. They should have been booing their own team all throughout the game. I thought the ref basically made almost all the calls correctly. The dutch should have been down to about 7 players by the end. The referee was more lenient with them than he could have been. That flying karate kick to the chest was unbelievable. I'd be surprised if the recipient of that hasn't got some cracked ribs.

It's a shame the Netherlands resorted to the tactics they did. If the referee had given all the cards he could have given, the Netherlands could easily have been down to 8 men. Webb didn't blow any of the calls he made other than him being lenient when he could have given a card. Spain deserved the win. I'd have liked to have seen the Netherlands take the trophy as they've been there three times without success but Spain were worthy winners. Not a classic game, the finals rarely are, but it could have been a classic if the Netherlands had stayed true to the football that got them there.

Bit disingenuous coming from someone who's team went home with their tails between their legs after failing to even get out of the group stages

Didn't do as well as they should have. Mind you, they did do better than the holders going in to the tournament and the beaten finalist from 2006 so it could have been worse.

England just went up one place on the FIFA world ranking. They moved up from 8th to 7th place

Looks like partially at the expense of Italy (dropping 6 places to 11th) and Portugal (dropping 5 places to 8th)

Spain rightfully at 1 and although I personnly don't feel they should be #2, the Netherlands (they did beat Brazil - but really the wrong team for Brazil)

That's because we played an absolutely outstanding World Cup, which is reflected in the excellent sponsorship deals the team has been able to sign as result of its performance at the World Cup...

I actually thought Brazil beat Brazil ! They really lost the plot in that game.

Can't really argue with Spain being number 1; European and World Champions. That's quite good
