Attila, i see your point, but there are a lot of people who cannot justify buying 6000euros for wheels.
I think it's better to de-link the purchase price of the car and the price of aftermarket items. People just look for the right balance for themselves. It's up to them to judge/assess this.

I made an example only by 6000 you can almost buy any wheels from any tuner or brands, except some TOP levels.But why buy fake or replica, still do not understand. YOu are right but what we all forget here every day... we drive an expensive car!!! that is why I said 60.000$. So if you spent that on a car, why spen 1000$ -2000$ on wheels, which quality effects your ride quality, comfort and SECURITY on the roads. so why ? Told in the begining I do NOT blame them for that just I am kinda not understand or find it justified to say I got no money for wheels -this was true for me - that is why I save... for them. But if they buy an expensive German car why save on safety and what they face. Please read mates stories of replicase messing up car.
What is behind when you buy something which is not authentic and you feel like it is...
thx just wanna understand how different ppl think of this matter.

Well, how much of the $60K is spend on OE wheels and tires? In reality you're only REPLACING (as in, you're throwing money out the window with the OE items), not adding anything (looks and handling) to the car with a wheel purchase. Add a body kit, spoiler, etc....you're not replacing anything, you adding.
For myself, the wheels that aren't the hard part, it's spending the money on the 20inch tires that annoys me. And $400+ for a piece of plasitc that fits as a spoiler??? Hmm..well...that's also hard to justify.

Yes, of course, tires and wheels add to the function of the car, but many people don't care about that nor will they actually "use" those upgrades (Going to the track anytime soon??? I didn't think so). Think about how much money car manufactures make off consumers and their four-wheel drive systems when tons of consumers rarely put a their vehicle in 4-wheel drive, if ever!!! People LIKE to say, "It's four-wheel drive." My reply, "Have you ever put it in 4-wheel drive or do you even know how?" My buddy owns a bright Yellow H2...ever been in 4-wheel drive...nope. Does he care if it does 0-60 in 5 five minutes...nope. What's it about? The look, nothing more nothing less. I would say most people care more about the "looks" than the function of the wheels. Why pay for expensive authentic wheels, when you could find replicas that LOOK exactly the same and serve the function that consumer is looking for!
My aunt and uncle have TONS of money...and they are the biggest tightwads i've ever met!!! Why? I have no idea, but they are the type of people that not only would buy replicas, but the cheapest ones possible!! I can't even tell you how often they swtich phone companies to get a "better" deal!!!

For people looking to stand out, I guess saving money by buying fakes gets the job done - lets face it, 95% of the people don't know fake M5 rims from the real ones.
I personally would rather spend the money on additional factory options.

To me, it all depends on each specific scenario, and here are a few:
For example, the BMW floor mat. Dealer sells it for $100 and if I could get a BMW floor mat replica for $30 with thicker carpet and more durable. This situation totally makes sense for me to get replica for better function and cheaper.
For Hamann wheels, for example. If I'm serious about light weight and performance, I WOULD NOT get replica. Original, Hamann in this case, is the only way to go. I'd not risk myself racing with someone on track with replica. There are some tuners selling Hamann parts at a cut throat price, but some people like you give us good discount on Hamann parts, and we should go to you. No question about it, as long as you're honest.
However, if, and only if, the replica ride quality and 80-90% of original, and one cared for the LOOK only, he'd buy replica. To me, if I bought aftermarket parts, it has to enhance BMW OEM function and it has to be original - not replicas. Let's say if I wanted to buy Hamann rear lip spoiler, I'd make sure that when I drive at about 120mph, Hamann rear lip spoiler has to serve its aerodynamic function, and I'm willling to pay $800+ just for that.

Dear guys thx for all of your replies and some PMs. Actually know I understand that puting something cheap on an expensive and top car from Germany, is one way of saving. What I know is that I understand now, but do not agree with that. However it also seems - that draw no conclusion from this - but in Asia and US people are more keen to put replicas on, I am only speaking of E60 not e46 etc.
I think the best to save if you order all and keep it 100% O.E. aka Iceman
For us modin'-freaks I ment that this costs true but the result speaks when you see it in PERSON, replicas and authentic ACS, Hartge or less but some HAMANN shows only in person the real difference.

Let's say if I wanted to buy Hamann rear lip spoiler, I'd make sure that when I drive at about 120mph, Hamann rear lip spoiler has to serve its aerodynamic function, and I'm willling to pay $800+ just for that.
