That being said, I don't like cops in general and avoid them by obeying the law.
Well put...

If it is, you're telling me that every aftermarket car shop in California is illegal?
Every place I've taken a car to get tinted here in the best state in the Union, California (front windows, too, because I don't give a f***; I paint my windshield black sometimes for kicks...), makes the customer sign an acknowledgement that the tint on the front windows is illegal and the shop is making full disclosure and cannot/will not be held liable. Not sure if it's legal, but it's a CYA.

So, how many times have you been pulled over because of it? And how many times have you gotten a ticket because of it?

Well, I was joking about the windshield, of course.

As for the windows, I just try to keep my eyes open. If a cop is rolling up next to me, I'll lower my windows or open the sunroof to let some light in (let them know I'm not up to something). \

Once I was pulled over in my 1978 Camaro, Limo tint on the back, 20% on each side, (at night so it appeared even darker), no front plate (rear was there), I was 17 or so, and I was pulled over on the 101 freeway for suspicion of drunk driving (bad scenario brewing), also with my girlfriend in the car (sounds too close to Pkorkis to be true -with the exception of the $40,000 difference in cars-, but it is). As I pulled off the freeway, I lowered both windows, and was courteous to the officer as he and his partner approached. Not only did I not get a DUI (didn't even have a drink, anyway), but I received no flack for the tint (windows were down, so they may not have even known), or the front plate. Lucky? Not sure. Happy? Extremely.

Since that car, I've kept my tints down to 20% on the rear, 35% on the sides, for the most part. No problems. (knocking profusely on my wooden desk...) Front plate on some, off on others...

Just need to be aware, I guess.

(sorry for the long reply)

I was doing 155mph once in my M3 and the cops pulled me over because they were jealous of me, cause I'm young and beautiful.
Look at how the Scottish police hounded this poor man - just purely out of jealousy:

Why don't they target the real crooks????????

uh, no offense but....
1.) u were driving without any license plates
2.) u had dark tints on the windows
LOL, here in Germany this would not result in much discussion. This guy would be pulled over, would get a solid fine, probably get his driving license revoked for at least three months (especially if he would confirm that he knew that he was driving without a license plate, and did not just loose it), and his car would be towed (at his expense) to the nearest convenient police parking lot...

Actually I think they would take him to the police station to take a blood sample to check whether he was on alocohol or on drugs

Driving without license plates in Germany - well, I don't think you would get a way with it for more than half an hour. Dark tints are also simply not allowed in Germany, and so would yield the same result.

my wife got pulled over also in the city of glendale....cop said the tint was too dark he cant see wether the driver is a male or female..ive had the tint for over a year now and when i am driving the car i would drive along a CHP car in the freeway but never stopped me. I guess its because my wife was driving a nice car that triggered him to pull her over and my wife said that the cop added that she doesnt have to fix the tint by the due date she just have to simply appear on that due date at the glendale municipal hall and pay the $10 fee......if i take off the tint i would expect city of glendale to be free of cars that has tint on the front driver and passenger cars or else i would complain to the city of glendale....
lol dont complain i live in glendale and most of us have tinted windows and we dont put on our liscense plates in hopes of running away from the pigs if we get a chance.
