OK, here goes. This list is sorted by when I bought the car. Usually more than one was owned at any time.

1958 Opel Olympia Rekord - First Car
1957 MGA Roadster
1957 MGA Coupe
1958 Oldsmobile Super 88
1961 Daimler SP-250 (Dart)
1961 Volvo PV-544
1964 Chevy II Nova
1969 Fiat 850 Spyder
1967 Alfa Romeo Giulia Super
1969 Triumph GT6+
1969 Volvo 142S
1972 Chevy Vega
1972 Alfa Romeo 2000 Berlina
1972 Ford Gran Torino
1974 Ford LTD
1942 Oldsmobile 66 Deluxe
1979 Ford Country Squire
1980 Audi 4000 (80)
1981 Audi 5000S (100)
1982 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale
1984 Audi 5000S (100)
1986 Chrysler GTS
1986 Dodge Lancer Turbo
1993 Eagle Vision TSI
1996 Chrysler LHS
1997 Dodge Intrepid ES
1967 Ford Mustang
1998 Mercedes Benz C280
2001 BMW 525i (E39)
2002 Volkswagen Passat
1993 Ford Ranger
2004 BMW 525i (E60)
1987 BMW 325es (E30)

That's the list. Some dogs and cats but also a few keepers. The last four and the '67 Mustang are currently owned. If my math is right, E60VTA still has the record. Am I allowed to count the cars I've bought for my kids?
Wow, a Daimler SP250: Clearly, THE BEST sounding V8 exhaust note ever emitted from any car. Our headmaster at school bought one in 61 or 62, red, world's ugliest guppy-mouthed front end, but all I wanted to do was be around back when he fired it up. Made those Abarth pipes of fashion back then sound silly.

Similar aural sensations drove me to sell my BMW boxer and buy a Moto Guzzi--another fabulous exhaust note.

Cheers,
Ray Hull

Sensing a theme here:

Americans - Super Cool First Car - Big Engine - Design Classic - Fast as Hell

UK - Rubbish first cars

I think all of you lucky buggers with E60s as your first car should be forced to drive morris marina's and ford cortina's for a couple of weeks (!)

My first vehicle was a 96 Nissan Pickup XE. I picked this up shortly after being assigned to Luke AFB, Phoenix in 2001. This truck has done nothing but treat me good as long as I have had it. Just over 108K miles and it and still no issues, *Looking for wood.* I hope to never get rid of it.

The Dailmer was truly outrageous. 2-1/2 liter hemi V8 in a fiberglass bodied roadster. Never got out of 2nd during an autocross, even the ones staged on the old runways of Mitchell Field (Long Island). Trouble was the old-fashioned english chassis had so much flex you could almost steer the car by leaning into the turn. Seriously, during hard cornering the chassis would flex so much that the outside door would open. Somewhere there is a picture of the car and me at an autocross showing the door fastened shut with duct tape. High tech racing indeed. Later models had a re-inforced chassis. Too bad Sir William killed the car when Jag bought Daimler.

You are right about the styling. The SP-250 never won any beauty contests but Lord, could it fly!!
