Apologies if this has been done before - but I thought it would be interesting too see what all of you e60 owners had when you first passed your test:

My first car was a 1600cc 'sh*t brown' (perhaps not the official colour reference) ford cortina mark v

0-60 eventually - BUT rear wheel drive with (near perfect) 50:50 weight distribution (not).

People used to put flagstones in the boot to improve the rear grip and stop the things stepping out. I didn't care though and was chuffed to bits when I got it up to 105 mph.

Okay then fair point - I probly posted this in the wrong spot - but the previous threads aren't exactly the same - I think first cars are usualy uniquely embarassing and was just intrigued to see the humble roots from which we rose to the heights of the e60

I am not embarassed by my first car, a BMW 1802 that was 13 years old and orange (sorry, Inka). I put a rollcage in and some other mods and went racing on the weekend and drove it to college during the week. I thought I was way cool back then....

My first car was a 60 Chevy, but I passed my test 6 years earlier--at 14 yrs. First "serious" fast car to drive regularly was a 1956 Buick Century--0 to 60 in 8.9 secs.

Mine was a 1975 Toyota Corolla. 1600cc, cart springs, cross ply tyres but... those were the days when even Corollas had real wheel drive. With the suspension and tyres, you could easily get the rear to step out of line - made for some interesting experiences joining motorways! But it started a love afair with rear wheel drive. My brother-in-law had a first generation 525 at about that time, and I remember thinking "One day...".

My first BMW was (as it had to be), a 525... though bought many years later!
