Hi JDN

Sorry for going off topic, but do you have a picture of your car with the Remus tailpipe? Does that pipe look better than the stock pipe.

Don't be daft An E60 is an E60 whatever the engine. If I had a 520i or a 520d I would enjoy the speed, handling and the quality just as much as my current car. Theres no such thing as a slow E60! I sometimes wonder whether I should have gone for a smaller engine with more options.

I test drove a used E39 520i before buying my used E39 528i and thought it was superb. I only had the 528 because it was the same price and same spec, otherwise I would have been happy with 520i.

Some reviewers have even said E60 has better balance with the smaller engines. Some think the V8 makes it "overpowered." I'll take the V8, thank you, but the other engines are sweet, too.

Plus the skill needed/ challenge is greater when using a manual transmission with a smaller engine. The V8 has so much torque, it kind of spoils you, and you don't need to work as hard. It's more fun, in a way, to have a smaller engine, so you have to work it more carefully.

No, I agree with others, I like all E60s. Some like blue, some silver, some black; some like the gasoline 6, the V8, the diesel. Whatever flavor makes you happy.

Guys on this forum are very, very nice. They won't tell you to your face, but I'm willing to bet you that most of the M5, 545, 550 owners think that they got the "higher" car (which in some aspects is very true in itself). This discussion has been brought up many, many times on many, many forums.

Let's face it, a lot of BMW, Mercedes, Bently, etc. etc buyers buy for prestige, nothing else. Do you really think the 50 year old woman driving a 545 really cares how fast it can go rather than what the badge entails?

As for me, sure I have a little of that "Look at me I'm in a 545 and you're in a 525 attitude" (although it was short lived since the 550 came out) . But I keep it to myself, most of the time. Unless of course, a 525 tries to race me.

Not me.
My 545 is debadged and I don't race other ppl out there.
I bought mine for the fun, the "driving pleasure" and I am paying a high price for it, but it's worth it.
Another E60 would have been better for me, on the financial side, but I wanted the fun. That doesn't mean that you don't have fun in a 520...

I don't think it matters. Just as long as a 525 owner doesn't debadge and slap an M5 emblem on.
