I was born and raised in South SJ, but moved to Roseville about 10 years ago. I prefer it here. Better place to raise your family imo...
(Roseville is about 2hrs NE of San Jose, and about 30 minutes East of Sacramento)
The cost of living here is much, much less than the Bay Area. Only thing is that it gets really hot here in the summer. You said heat is what you like though. Heat is what you get around here! 2 hours to get to the beach, 1.5 hours to get to the snow. I love it here....
