Im thinking about getting a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee as a daily driver. Looking at around 90k miles for 5k. Thinking about thw v6 limited model. Was just wondering what u guys thought. Any issues as far as reliability goes or options to look for. Any help would be appreciated.
thanks,
John

everyone i have ever known that has had jeep grand cherokees have said they are piles of shit. had a friend in H.S. who had to get his JGC limited fixed nearly every month. I would find something more reliable considering the mileage and money you want to spend.

We have a 04 WJ overland w the 4.7l HO. Varilock axels w quadradrive. The thing is faaast and unstoppable. I live where we'll get 10ft of snow in 3 days. Its never been stuck and never had a problem. I did spring for the 100k bumper to bumper including electronics. Havent had to use it yet but theres no deductable so if i do no worries... The 4.0 does have fewer problems than the 4.7 but the gas mileage is almost identical and the 4.0 is a dog in the power dept. Id go 4.7 and look at its maintenence history

Not in that price range lol. It really depends on what u wanna do w it. Jeeps are a link and solid axel design which makes em tough as shit and they also offer a low range tcase. Anything else will have IFS (garbage) and AWD both or a combination of the 2. i actually 4wheel drive often in the summer so its a no brainer for me... I heard the nissan rogue is cute..

From quickly checking out the jeep forum it seems like maintanence makes the worlds difference with these cars.
