A Swedish motor journalist, Fredrik Huldt, tries a Renault F1 at the Hungaroring, Budapest. Some very nice footage that gives you a sense of what it's like (just notice his head when he is changing gear!). Part of the video is in Swedish and part of it, when talking to the Renault F1 team, in English, but I think you'll get the idea... He starts by explaining that he needs to do 20 sit-ups otherwise he cannot drive the car, as the Renault guy said he was a bit concerned over Fredrik's fitness when noticing his bear belly.

nice find, proves they dont just toss the coin when choosing a team driver,
a lot of requirements must be met

It's amazing watching his head.
He's not pushing it to the limits, not racing, and just had a couple of laps.
He's exhausted...

Now figure, pushing the car to the limit for two hours in the Bahrain heat...

Those F1 drivers probably do their weight lifting in the spa to be prepared for that...
