off topic but why do people like Lexus? i have friends who are like "i really want a lexus im saving up for one, etc.." am i missing something?
Lexus is a perfect car for someone who wants a beautiful, luxurious interior, bulletproof reliability and a put-you-to-sleep-one-foot-in-the-grave (or simply put, a numb, isolated ultra-plush ride).

BMW is a driver's car. BMWs are not as plush-riding or as luxurious on the inside as their Lexus counterparts.

My take on cars is simple: people should buy cars tailored to their needs and wants. Not everyone's needs and wants matches what BMW offers. Mine does, which is why BMWs are my first choice cars.

Just another example of how immigrants come to this country and take advantage of all the programs that our tax dollars are paying for

El, you should always go directly to fleet managers at ANY dealer. As a matter of fact, you call them first and neg. all the $$ stuff ahead of your visit - this way you come in, test drive if need to, make sure all docs are in order, sign and drive away in an hour. Salesmen and finance managers at dealerships are douchebags!

EDIT: ...mostly
My mode is simple: I find out every parameter of the car's pricing and make a written take-it-or-leave it offer via email to the dealership's General Sales Manager. I do all negotiations via email. Works like a charm every time. But I research the pricing components (invoice prices for car and all options, incentives, other non-discretionary dealer costs such as, in the NE regions, MACO and training fee, money factors, residual value, bank fee, security deposition) like crazy first. I use all the info on calculate the lease payment by plugging it into the many lease calculators available online. I never ever negotiate a lease monthly payment as that how the dealer can f*ck you. You negotiate, for leases, a total capitalized cost of the lease (selling price of the car) and confirm to the Sales Manager that a condition of the deal is that they do not mark up the money factor (you tell them what it is) or screw with the residual value being offered by BMWFS (you tell them what it is as well).

I do not engage in time wasting in-person negotiations at the dealership. To do so is a complete waste of time and exposes you to traditional, pressure tactics. I don't have patience for that crap and, as outlined above, there is a better, briefer way to buy a car if you are willing to do the research.

Not to offend any Indian's or Middle Eastern people on here, but they are the WORST fuckin sales people in the world. They swear they are doing you a favor, by selling you a car and taking your 50K.

Go to Santa Monica Lexus. I bought my g/f 08 GS there and dealt with Vrezh, the GM there is hot too I think her name is Michelle, some fillipina chick.

My wife has a Lexus and it has been FAR more reliable (and affordable to maintain) than my BMW. If you like a "cushy" luxury ride it is a nice and reliable car.

this sounds a lot like the Lexus dealer in my city. I went there before I made up my mind on bmw and they just ignored me cuz I guess I'm too young and wasn't dressed nice enough or something. When I ask to look inside one of the vehicles in the show room they said no I can't it was sold. assholes.

So then I went over to bmw and received great service and have purchased 2 bmw's from them since.

btw Michael that were they asian comment was hilarious.
