Hi Teriyaki88,

Sorry to hear about the bad news, but thanks for sharing the info.
You've already heard it from other fellow E60'ers -- Get yourself a Valentine One.
Cruising on those long stretches in Oregon and finding out in advance (Thanks V1!!!) that one of the Highway Patrol guys were hiding in the trees on the center divide is a good thing.

Disclaimer: Every time I bring up a V1 there's always that one person who chimes in and says, "Just Don't speed" and you won't need a V1...." Well, my sister was going just under the speed limit and she STILL got a ticket! -- I believe the Officer's name was "Officer Dickhead".

Anyway, you've certainly reinforced the advice of being polite and courteous during such a situation.

Good Luck, and Drive Safe.
-CoolTones.

You are lucky. I've been lucky as well the last two times I was pulled over, both within the last two months. It does help to pull over right away, hand over my license and insurance card and admit that I was speeding. Got away with a warning both times! It pays to be polite and admit fault immediately!

Well man thats great luck, and i wish we had those laws in Va anything 20 and over is reckless driving two points and mandantory driving school and that does not remove the points. And at that speed you were going your license would have been immediatly revoked and you would be taken straight to jail not passing to collect the 200 dollars so thank God for the stroke of luck and BMW for the driving dynamics

Pretty much the only time I hit extended speeds close to or over 100 is going to vegas. Other than a couple quick bursts to 100+, I try to keep it at 100 or a bit below for just the reasons you stated.

Glad you got off so light. And, your advice is right on. If I were to think of crusing over 100, I'd have my radar detetor on and be following a rabbit. But, then there always is the Smokey in the sky.

Years ago I was speeding down a divided highway. I never saw the Trooper except that something caught my eye in the rear view mirror and it was a Trooper, who had been heading in the other direction, doing a power slide in the median to turn around and get me.

I just pulled over and waited for him.

He knocked 20mph off of my ticket because he didn't have to chase me.

Get a V1.

And yes, when you're caught red handed, being polite and respectful is the best approach.

I also think (hope) the fine structure the cop told you is BS.

WOW...be nice get a break

I've nearly been pulled over twice since I got my 5 in July. I like to go fast ( below 100 98% of time though)

I'm now convinced..

Last had a passport/escort detector back when I had my E36 325i. Saved my a_s many times.

Where's the best source for Valentine1 and what accessories are recommended?

Had the same happen to me...he was so far back that I floored it ...got out at the next exit did a couple of quick turns and never saw him again!...my heart is still pounding..I ll never do that again ...allthough I must admit it was kind of exciting!

dont try this at home we don t have the zealous troopers you have in the USA up here! lol
