In a drag race, the 545 would take the 530d easily, but in the gears, the gap wouldn't be so large... in road conditions. As for the 535d, Hmm.

545 50-75 Mph in 4th: 5.8 sec
530d 50-75 Mph in 4th: 5.4 sec
535d 50-75 Mph in 4th:

I pulled up next to an M5 (e39) yesterday and just had to give him a go, he kicked my arss off the line but held with him all the way to 100 mph, just off his bumper. Kinda cool to know that next gen 545 holds it own.

Never driven the 545, but I'm sure it's a beast. IMO, the 530d was much more impressive than the 530i, but it shouldn't be able to stay with a V8.
Now for the 535d, we'll have to wait and see
