Pulled up behind a SL55 AMG this evening on the motorway. We were both caught in traffic, but when it cleared he put his foot down but I kept a reasonably equal distance between us - i.e. he didn't get away This happened twice (he had to slow down for traffic), I think he was shocked that this black bmw wasn't disappearing in his rear view mirror

Are these cars not that fast, is the dms 535d just absolutely brilliant, or was he not trying?

Zero to 60 mph in 4.7. It's a definite notch above the E60, more like an M5. You probably surprised the driver anyway. He may be headed to his service department.

I doubt he was trying *too* hard, but nice to hear anyway - he's got nearly 500 hp and 516 supercharged lb-ft to play with (granted the SL is quite a bit heavier than an E60, but the SL55 is a monster).

I had an E55, and while the SL55 is a bit heavier, I can tell you that with a competent driver, there's no contest--the SL55 will smoke you on a straight line highway. That engine has 469 hp and 516 lb/ft of torque--it is a monster.

I got a ride in one a few weeks ago. It is a freakin' straight line beast!
He was probaly not trying as hard as he could.
It has loads of Torque! No match for any E60 (except possibly an M5 - or a remapped 535d)
From a dead stop it's no match. While rolling around 50 - 80mph it may be closer.

she can't harm the car but at the same time, she can't fully "utilize" it . why bother with a sl65 then .
