My Ride: MY05 545i Jet Black with Auburn interior. SMG, Logic7, Sport Package, Comfort Seats, Navigation.

My 4 past experiences with the ticket were met as follows:

1: 1990 Integra; took the front tints off myself. Showed it to a cop. Fixed the ticket, and re-tinted.
2: 1990 Integra; 2nd time around, I borrowed a friends Integra (same color), swapped the plate and changed the ticket's description from 4 doors to 2 doors. Showed it to a cop. Fixed the ticket.
3: 1996 328i; Swapped the plate with neighbors 525 (same color) Showed it to a cop. Fixed the ticket.
4: 1996 Civic coup: A friend has left the country and left her car with me. I spent 2 hours peeling the tint off, Showed it to a cop and sold her car to pay for the ticket. (Now you have to pay and fix).

I have dark tint all-around on my 545i now because the tint shop made a mistake. I had requested medium tint. Rather than re-do the whole car, I made them agree and note on the receipt that if I ever get a ticket, they will fix it for me and re-tint.

Crossing my fingers and will try to avoid going to Pasadena.

You sure the cop is not a friend of Umnitza?

I'm not sure what the law is, but if a cop gives you a fix-it ticket that means they want you to take care of it right away. If you ignore it they can legally give you another ticket, and another until you get it fixed and the fines will rise. The cut-off date they give you (maybe a couple of months) is a chance for you to arrange your schedule and take it to your nearest sheriff station and have it checked out. I don't believe you have to go to court for a fix it? It's just like if you get a parking violation and the ticket is clearly posted in your windshield you cannot just leave the car there thinking you are safe because you already got one. The same parking meter maid can give you another ticket if he patrols that area again and you have not moved your car :'( . This happened to my brother before, a double whammy

I remember back in the 80's you didn't have to pay a fine for a fix-it, you just have to show them that it's been fixed. Now you have to pay a fine as well.

Yea. the cop was just busting my chops. But good thing for me, I know some guys that can write it off for me. So every fix-it ticket I get, I'll just have it written off.
The first time the guy pulled me over, I was on Colorado in front of the Rusnak Dealership. The second time was on Mentor and Del Mar. The guy was just chillin there on the corner waiting for his next victim. Isn't doing something like that illegal, I remember reading in www.ticketassassin.com that speed traps are illegal. Anyways, y'all need to be careful if you head over to Pasadena area. The cops here have got nothing else better to do.

Yeah, switch plates with another black E60...if you intend to keep the tint. This is why I have not done it...even if I want to, same with front license issue...I've lived in Pas for 15 years...and know how the cops are...although they've been great about catching people that have tried to hit-and-run me. I shop at the Ralphs across from Rusnak, sometimes they sit in the bank parking lot next door waiting for speeders going east or west on Colorado...fyi.

Hey is it true that cops are more aggressive during the last days of the month to meet their "quota" for the month? And I heard that they are given a few days of "grace period" at the beginning of the following month for those who did not meet their quota? Is this true?

All the cops that I know or have talked to don't have quotas. Maybe there are some departments that do have them, but none I've ever heard of...
