Shouldn't the senate be more concerned about that second fee our own banks charge us for using 3rd party ATM's? I personally don't mind paying $2 or whatever when using a random ATM machine, but I get annoyed when I find a second fee in my statement. They should put the 50 cent cap on the banks and everything will be okay, no?

I feel for you guys.

All this will do is make ATMs less available. I appreciate having convenience and choices regarding where, and how, I obtain MY money. Even for those of us who don't use private ATMs regularly at home, many of us do when we travel, out of necessity. What's next, shut down 7-11s for charging a higher rate for their items?

+1. This bill, cloaked in the garb of a consumer protection bill, is actually a bill to help big banks steer all of the ATM traffic to them while sticking a pole up the rear end of small business people like John who are offering consumers something that they want. Calvin is correct in that if the bill becomes law, there will be far less ATMS and that will force people to always go to the big banks for their money.

You would think in this day in age that idiot senators would have BETTER things to worry about then trying to control ATM fees. Meanwhile while their ATM bill gets blocked there is oil still spilling into the ocean or many other issues that could benefit the country than trying to modify ATM fees.
