I have to preface this to say that my mother passed away this Friday morning (at midnight), so my mind wasn't thinking clearly as it was. In the 2 years I've owned the car...I've never done this...but somehow, after opening my gas tank, and filling the tank, I realized I had locked myself out of the car! I'm wondering what I accidentally did to do this? I did leave the key in the ignition and I did press the unlock button on the dashboard. (Perhaps this is why the doors locked upon exiting the car.) But the point of this story is that I was in a predicament...cellphone is inside car...gas attendant was willing to let me use her cell phone, but I did not memorize my father's new number (as I was visiting with him). I also mentioned to the attendant that I have BMW Assist, but did not know what number to call...wallet was in the car as well! Anyway, another customer overheard me, she offered to try her BMW Assist in her 3-Series Convertible...already a nice gesture! However, she could not get it to work...so she, with her mother in the next seat, offered to give me a ride to my father's house several miles away! They said that they had never picked up anyone before. Needless to say, I am grateful to them. I guess some of my good deeds paid off with this one done for me! So to Merci and her mother...also Merci, (short for Mercedes ), I thank you, and if anyone knows them please tell them you saw this here. I promised I would tell all of you this story...it just made my day!

Sorry about your Mother Mate. Time must be tough for you. But BMW-Brotherhood came to your help which seems good.

Glad it worked out. Thanks to those who stick their neck out to help someone. The universe has a way or returning the favor when they need it most.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your mother, that is tough.

Regarding the kindness of a stranger, I firmly believe what goes around comes around, and the world is still full of honest people wanting to "do the right thing".

My sympathies to you and your family on your loss. Glad to see things worked out for you in the end although I find it humorous that the BMW assist didn't work in the 3-series either. Maybe they need a CIP upgrade like the rest of us!

Thanks everyone for your kind words! I'm going to have to share all your responses from all over the world, to my family. They'll get a laugh, and a smile to see that my BMW-geekiness, (as some have called it), is actually a very good thing!
