I've been getting into photography alot more recently. I've done it in the past just with my base xti body and lens. But a buddy at work is a unbelievable photographer, and has some crazy equipment. I've been wanting to take the next level by getting a new lens, so he convinced me to get a 50mm 1.8 lens. I got it today and absolutley love it, my pictures are turning out much better now. I'll probably get a 3rd lens in a few weeks depending on what I wanna go with, probably a good zoom or macro. Any other photographers on the forum? Either hobbist or professional? What gear are you guys rocking?
don't forget it not the tools that make good photos.
its the user.
I only been photo shotting for 3 years and don't use it that much only to take photos of my 2 kids

I also have an extender EF 1.4X II which is handy with the 70-200.
I am planning to get the extender 2x 1.
also will get the 5Dmk2 some time this year.

Personally, I find that I'm MORE creative after the picture has been taken with Photoshop!!
+1 maybe coz been doing design for so many years with PS
I dont used PS any more unless I do some kind of design work on the photos.
I use Lightroom which is much better for photo retouching.
try it out

Finally a Nikonian. Me too. My equipment is close to yours:

Nikon D200, 3 years old and 21,000 pictures.
SB600 speed light
12-24 f/2.8
18-200 VR
70-200 f/2.8 VR
60 Macro f2.8
TC 17II teleconverter
Plain old Tripod

I am debating on a good fast lens, either a 50mm f1.4, or the new 24-70 f2.8. The Tamaron 24-75 f2.8 also has good reviews and its 1/3 the Nikon price.
I used a D300 for my top gear live shots and I like it very much.
But after some turning in LR it looks about the same as my 350D
