BMW has said "non, merci" to continuing its diesel engine partnership with PSA Peugeot Citroen. The two automakers began working together two years ago to create 1.4- and 1.6-liter gasoline engines for BMW's MINI and PSA cars. Despite both companies at the end of last year looking at expanding their joint research into a high-tech engine, the synergies weren't providing the cost benefits desired with the small engine, so the affair has come to an end.

Looks like they watch 5th gear(2007.09.17).haha

I didn't see that 5th Gear "report", but from what I heard it was a total farce!

I like my little Cooper D... Am currently enjoying 35mpg (urban, at 14mph average)

you should download it and see it, it is very funny. He throws up in the mini when testing it.
they say it will take 3 years save your money back, compare to the petro.
less fun more money for the D.

Yes, of course this is total rubbish - my Cooper D cost a bit more to buy than a Cooper, sure, but it burns about half the fuel (when driven normally, rather than by those idiots) and from next February, it's exempt from the London congestion charge, which is a saving of about another ?2,000 per year. Plus, it's safe to expect much better residuals than a Cooper. All in all, you'd have to be nuts to buy the petrol engined car, if you're driving in London, fun though it is to zing through the gears.

I know what you mean. yes your right if driving in London, butlike me I live in warwickshare, and there are many country road and it is lot more fun in a petro car.
But if I was to drive to london I would get a ele car, if go for green, or a smart 4 2. but not a mini D. mini would be a 3rd car for me. But if itis your 1st car then this 1 is good for citys.
