All right folks, a bit of help here. Have been wanting to replace my 116 wheels for a while now, but Katrina put that on hold. As things have settled back down a bit, back to shopping for wheels. Torn between the 135's and the 166's but where I need help are part numbers. Was at one of the local dealers here in Houston and the parts guys insisted that the 135's were for the 3 series only because the catalog he had showed for E46. I tried to tell him that I've seen folks w/ them on E60's and that they must make a version for my 545.

For those of you out there w/ the 135's can you see if your receipt/workorder has a part number? And I assume that ordering the 166's for my E60 is not a problem here in the states?

Thanks for the help!

Ken

Ok, I'm reading directly from the extra's catalog from BMW that I picked up at the dealer last week.

The M135 wheel has the following part numbers:

Complete wheel & tire set w/ 245/40 R18Y = 36110397222
Single wheel w/o tire = 36117905320

Hope this helps you.

Thanks for the response. Is this extra's catalog for the E60 or just the general BMW catalog. I left it in my car, but I do have a catalog of various BMW wheels for different models and it does have the M135 wheels, but again this catalog has them listed as for the E46 only...

It's one with only E60 extras in it. I could mail you one but it is in German. The E46 does have the same wheel but that one will not fit the E60 due to the ET (offset) etc. as I'm sure you already know. Any way, these wheels cost about $500 each over here in Germany. I'm trying to get a set on Ebay but there is much interest in them too.

Great, thanks Bob. And you can save the postage as the only German I know involves a few numbers and several curse words!

Apologies as I am a bit late in posting. The 135M rims are standard fit in Europe on all E60 M Sport models. Your dealer is talking nonsense. I cant help with a part number as they were standard fit.

On M Sport models, BMW only recommends two rims - the 18 inch 135M's which are standard and the 19 inch 172M's which are an optional extra.

I prefer the styling of the 135's over both the 166 and 172's. However as others have pointed out they unfortunately dont come in 19" diameter.

Here in Europe the 135's are very common. The 172's are pretty rare however as most people dont go for the option (and they look fantastic - I think BMW#5 and Merv the Derv have them)). The 166 are also quite rare but I dont expect this to last long. As they are M5 wheels every replica manufacturer out there now makes them. I personally wouldnt go for replica's but just to give you an indication a set of four 19" 166M's costs around $1,500 in the UK including medium grade tyres.
