Old cam took a poop. Looking to upgrade to something new... In the $250-500 price range, simpler the better lol, point n shoot type deal. Definantly want high quality pictures though, obviosly it wont compare to SLR but you get the point. I picked up a Sony W290 12MP and absoultly hate it. After fooling around with it for 2 hours I gave up. Pictures were way to grainy and definantly not high def. Any help would be great

Go DSLR! We have a Canon, but I've heard really good things about Nikon too... I think Nikon D40 is the one to get... or maybe the D80 - I don't remember now. But Nikon, supposedly, is better, as per reviews. We got a Canon, cuz... well, my gf wanted it LOL
If you really don't wanna go the DSLR route, Panasonic has some excellent cameras with Carl Zeiss lens - my sister has it and it's REALLY good

My other camera is Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ50. It's a compact camera (super-zoom), with very DSLR like features. Great camera for easy shooting AND for learning the SLR stuff. The Lumix camera family is great overall!

All the pictures from my on E60.net are from my Sony DSC-T200. It is ultra-compact and takes excellent photos. Not a SLR but I don't care. I like the ability to stick it in my pocket when I travel. It is tiny. I picked it up a year to two ago for about $350. Worth every penny. Will it compete with some of the ultra-expensive DSLRs that some of our members have? Of course not. But for good pictures and easy of carrying it's great.

Silver Gray - Black Leather - Anthracite Maple
Manual Transmission
Premium Audio
Cold Weather Package
Rear sunshade
Sirius Radio
Autobahnd Roadblock (3M) film kit
Given the price the OP is looking to pay, I'd say that if the budget can stretch a bit, then the Fuji F200 EXR is about as great a camera as you'll find.
It costs between $320 and $350...
