I will be in New York in August for a wedding and will be staying at a Marriott. I am considering either the New York Marriott Marquis @ Times Square, 1535 Broadway, the Renaissance New York Times Square, 714 Seventh Ave @ W. 48th, or the New York Marriott East Side, 525 Lexington. I am using Marriott points and that is why I need a Marriott. Which would you suggest? The reception is at the Boat House in Central Park and I will not have a car. Thanks for your help.

stay in Times Square, that'll have the most to do around as well...The Renaissance is the nicer of the 2 hotels in terms of ammenities, so that'd be my first choice, and the Marquis is very nice as well...both are within a block or 2 of each other

Depends what your goal is. The Boathouse is at 72nd street, generally accessed from 5th Ave on the East side of Central Park. Dressed for a wedding, you are probably not going to want to walk from any of the hotel locations, though it will be a relatively short cab rife from any of them. The Marquis was recently renovated and is very nice. As M630 pointed out the Renaissance is nice as well and they are very closetogether.

I hate times square, so I would say to stay on the east side. I was born and raised in manhattan and to this day, I still hate Times Square. It's gross.

PS - You should drop Marriott and join Starwood. Nicer hotels and more choices.

the rennaisance and marquis are literally 3 blocks away from each other, both in times square. the marquis is HUGE....ive stayed at the marquis and wasnt too thrilled with it. of the two id take the rennaisance, more upscale....you might get lucky and get a room looking straight down times square. as for the location, its great for someone whose never been to nyc...youre in dead center of everything.
im not familiar with the east side marriot....but if you want somewhat quieter surroundings, stay here i guess.

all of these hotels are convenient to central park...and yes, a taxi in august in nyc is a MUST, the humidity is horrendous.
