just wanted to share some great exposure MFest 3: VIP has gotten in Bimmer Magazine this month.

Congrats to Chris and the whole MFest crew!

HIGH ENERGY HOT RODDING
In Las Vegas, M Fest celebrates the wild spirit of BMW's M cars on the street, at the track and in the parking lot.

With straight pipes and open velocity stacks doing little to contain the rumble of its S62 V8 engine, it?s no wonder that we hear the Fluid Motor Union 740i before we see it. The Fluid crew has just rolled in to Nevada?s Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch from Plainfield, Indiana, and their matte-black 7 Series has drawn an instant crowd. It may not be an M car beyond its drivetrain, but it?s right at home here at M Fest.

?Welcome to the Dark Side!? says M Fest organizer Chris Naguit when we meet at Spring Mountain. As he shows us around, Naguit tells us that M Fest started as a casual run by a few friends from Los Angeles to Las Vegas. Over the last year or so, it?s grown into a formidable gathering of M cars, especially those that have been modified for big power and individual style. [Naguit?s own hot rod M5 was featured in Bimmer #82, which erroneously identified him as Chris Laxa.]

As such, it?s the antithesis of the typical BMW concours, not only because it attracts the hottest of BMW hot rods but also because it emphasizes driving over display?to the extent that participants are forbidden from trailering their cars to the event.

?You have to drive here,? Naguit says, ?It?s a more interactive event. I want people to have a taste of the track, to blow off some steam.?

Guys like Brian Elliott are doing exactly that, taking lap after lap in his E46 M3. With turbocharging and a built motor by Horsepower Freaks, Elliott?s car is perfect for the sweeping turns and long straightaway at Spring Mountain.

For those who want to spare their cars and their tires the strain of the big track, an autocross course has been set up at the far end of the paddock. When that?s been done those thinking about moving beyond BMW?s M cars can check out the Lamborghinis, Porsches and Ferraris in the showroom at Switchcars, the on-track used car dealership.
