I'd say if money is not an issue getvthe pro. It also depends on what you expectfrom your MacBook. If you want to play games or play movies at full hd on a larger screen you might want to go pro. If you do more iWork stuff you might aswell settle for MacBook. I would go pro
money is always an issue!lol

i've always been a pc guy, but have always been very intrigued by Apple and the MAC's. the sole fact they're not affect by spyware and virus' is refreshing. i'll mostly use it for browsing, word & heavy excel work, photoshop and porn....i'm kidding, not really.

Yeah I came from pc world just 2 months ago when I bought my new iMac and let me just say it's fantastic and smokes my ?ber pc like hell. Also due to lack of antivirus you get a boost of incredible speed that on the pc.you're doomed to loose. Now all that remains to replace is my current Sony Vaio notebook. But if I would settle for the 13" mac I would get a MacBook air. It's fantastic! A bit more expensive but super cool and light. I myself am in a dilema via MBA vs MMP. Ultimately I think MBP wins for me, with that awesome single button trackpad.

In that case, Safari's Private Browsing feature ("porn mode") is your friend!

The major differences between the Macbook and the Pro boil down to the graphics cards (much better in the Pro), the display (better in the Pro) and the amount of standard RAM. For most users, a Macbook will do just fine. If you're into games, want to dual boot into Windows or have any intensive video or audio work you might want to do you're probably better off with the Pro.

i like the pro, but i dont need a large monitor. i much prefer the 13.1" screen.

i'm not into games, but i am getting into photoshop work and will need a faster cpu with plenty of storage space.

In that case, you'll probably do just fine with the Macbook. It's a great machine.

If you can swing it, go for the 2.4 Ghz machine, not only is it faster, it's the only one that has the illuminated keyboard which is way more useful than you think it will be until you have one!

Also don't forget that the new:

MacBook = has no firewire

MacBookPro = has firewire 800 (fw400 would need an 800/400 adapter)

I'm also looking to buy one or the other this week. Haven't made up my mind yet!

MBP user for a couple years here and I have no regrets. If the screen size is your primary concern, then the MB should suffice. I'll compare it to a 528i vs 535i(550) debate. The 528 would have gotten you from point A to B, but you wanted/needed to do it with a little more speed, style and flare.
