I don't either. There are lots of great DIY speaker wire projects you can find on sites like Audioholics. You can make some stellar wiring from bundles of CAT5.

Since you are looking for ways to maximize the quality, I'd say to pick up the Chesky Audio calibration DVDs, and the Radio Shack SPL meter. Get it dialed in.

Thanks man! I'll check it out. Appreciate it. Yeah, I just upgraded my Yamaha AV receiver to a new Marantz and the thing is sick! I also went with a Rotel amp to run my fronts (Marantz will run center and rears) and went with a Velodyne sub.

Now the question is whether I go buy an XBOX 360 at 33 years of age and married to a wife that already hates that I spend so much time on this forum. With my new home theater, my E60 and this forum, I might as well become single again. Hahahaha!

Heh - well at the risk of sounding like a broken record... wait on the 360. Microsoft is releasing the update this year. "Zephyr" is the code name, it's essentially a revision with some new components.

It has HDMI, the 65nm chip (much much cooler), a larger HD, and an updated scaler chip. Shown/revealed very recently. Due out sometime this year.

Why is it that everything in Europe is released after it's released in the US market? It would seem that it would make more sense to release the same model, worldwide to generate more revenue. Even if these companies wanted to spread the revenue out over their fiscal years to meet their quarterly numbers by having different release dates for each country, by the time they do that, the first country already has the next best model and the rest of the world now wants that model.

And for you guys in EU that pay twice as much for an E60 as we do here in the US, that is just nuts. I couldn't imagine paying over $100K for my car. With the US dollar sucking wind, it's too bad BMW doesn't have a "UD" (US Delivery...hahaha) of our car. That would be quite a bargain for you.

All you EU owners should move over here to the US. We'll have a big party with our cars and our tv's.
YOu are RIGHT but do not say it loud or Ice will move there

hell'ya we should pay the lower prices for that too and even pay a bit more for EU delivery for any parts... deal

www.anandtech.com (search news archive)... there is a large chance that the the 65nm version will
1) come out towards the end of the year (not in summer)
2) not feature HDMI since this would mildly pi$$ off existing owners...

That is really good to know! I'm going to wait then. Any idea what month they plan on releasing that upgrade to the US market? I'm like a little kid and can't wait until my birthday (Sept.).

I'm pretty sure the overwhelming body of evidence points to HDMI being there. There is a lot of flaming going back and forth as to what will really happen, but it's inevitable. Rich content demands it. I won't burden you with links to news sources - there are many. We'll see when it arrives - I have no concrete dates. Certainly could be later in the EU where you are.

Do not buy Plasma. It was a good choice when LCD were expensive to manufacture at large size.
Many TV manufacture stop making Plasma because LCD cost about the same now and with more advantage over Plasma. For the long run LCD price will keep dropping but Plasma will stay about the same.

...Plasma will stay about the same.

Not if Panasonic has anything to say about it. They are busy building yet more plasma manufacturing capacity, and their stated goal is to make plasma the most affordable thin panel technology. Plasma should continue free-falling in costs in the next few years, making it a very attractive option for many applications.

The continued frenzy to develop new and differentiating innovations are due in direct part to the commoditization of the flat panel market. Pioneer is focusing on building Plasmas they can charge large premiums for - above and beyond costs that exist today. The same is happening with new LCD innovation. Bottom line, you can pay as much or as little as you want for either - and the reality is that even cheap units look quite good these days.
