iPhone 5 almost upon us

To imply you think the Samsung is better and the iphone 5 is unimpressive but buy it anyway, is (and I'll say it again) somewhat hopeless.
I don't think I've ever bought anything that didn't impress me, especially if there's something else around that does.
Let me reiterate in another way, those who buy the latest iphone because they've considered what it is they want and what the others offer and concluded it's the best for them, then good luck to them, they'll love their new iphone. Those who just buy it because "that's what I do, I'm an iphone sheep, I was hypnotized to do so each time a new one comes out", well, those sheep images above apply.
Notice how I haven't said anything bad about the iphone 5 itself.

Haven't had a chance to look at the 5 so not sure when/if I'll upgrade. I will say that I like the Apple system and the key for me is that system, not just the phone. The iTunes integration where I can centralize my music and apps for use on my iPhone, my iPad and the the two iPods I use (one for running, one permanently in the car). Once your a heavy user of that whole system, making the transition seems like a pain. Transferring music files and reformatting for the Android system, having to repurchase many apps I frequently use... That is how Apple locks folks in for the most part, we're not all just sheep blindly taking everything Apple offers. But it is a damn good system (note system, not just phone!).
Samsung does have some great phones but personally I find them too big for my needs. The size in ones pocket is just a bit much for me. And I don't need the bigger screen size because I'm not using the phone for video etc... Beyond that the Samsung and Apple phones are nearly identical for my needs so no need to rush out and switch!
But as DD points, find what suits your needs and enjoy it.

Personally, I'm the opposite. The bigger the better If you think the Samsung Galaxy S3 is too big (and it is big), the one I'm waiting for which is released next month is the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, with a 5.5" screen

Even though I'm not impressed with the iphone 5 is because I don't really need anything else in a phone right now. I have a ipad that I use all the time and love, so I'm not as eager to spend alot more in the longterm. Not to mention I have a company phone which I don't pay for and can't upgrade if I wanted which is fine.

i guess i just expected "more" from the iphone 5. I mean looking at all the android phones out on the market, apple definitely left out a few things for the iphone 5s and iphone 6 lol.
