It'll be much like the iPad, if you pre-order it it will be there on launch day. One note of caution, some resellers taking iPad pre-orders were only holding the devices until 5pm on the launch day and any that were not picked by the deadline were released back into the wild...

Same I don't think it's really worth the date to line up for it when it will come out eventually, unless its some one time thing deal and its a great deal then yeah. Let's see who's the first to pick it up

Rumors have surfaced that Apple will not be able to fulfill all preorders on the JUN 24th. Will best buy be able to honor every preordered iPhone purchased on JUN 24th? If they cannot, how will the under stocked iPhones be sold when customers with reservations attempt to pick them up? Will it be first come first serve? Will the store sell them to customers in the order they reserved them (using a timestamp on the reservation receipt). Should I contact my local store (Tampa, FL) to inquire about shipment totals compared to reservations and the plan of action to sell the phone?

Thank-you for contacting Best Buy Mobile Customer Care, my name is Debra, and I will be happy to help you with this question.
We had to quit taking pre orders for the Iphone 4. The demand was higher than expected. So Best Buy is not promising that on June 24th they will cover all the pre orders that are made. The pre orders will be filled as stock comes in. If you want you can contact the store on the 23rd to see if they will be getting enough in to cover the pre orders. If you pre ordered they will call you when they get to your name on the list.

Yikes, I wonder if this is the same across other stores?
I had to talk to At&t yesterday, and the rep I spoke to told me that they SHOULD have them in stock for all the pre-orders. Wonder if it's different if it's at the Apple Store?

i pre ordered mine but have no plans to be there early, they said they will hold the phone (my pre order) that day June 24 or until the store closes they should have one ready for me that day I used my apple ID and since they stated that they will hold the reserved phone for that day then it means you will surely have one, and it also indicates you can pick it up starting 7am and just bring you ID with you
