I want to make a thread and see if people can chime in on this topic. There are a number of us that pre-ordered and reserved. Not sure what the ratio is for shipped versus pick up in store, but this thread will mainly be for people that'll be picking up in store.

The sale launches at 7AM in the morning, and I am just wondering how it works. For people that have reserved it, should we have to worry about getting there early in the morning to pick it up? I was looking at my confirmation from Apple, and it said it'll be held until end of business day... but it also says "first come first serve". Obviously I am kind of confused about that.

Man, can't believe I am worrying over a freaking phone, lol.

the safest bet is to be there at 7AM.
I've order 2 and planning on being there at 7AM to pick it up in order to avoid any surprises.

So is getting there at 7AM the safe bet?

I've personally never waited in line for toys, but I know people get crazy and go camp out.

The idea of reserving one would be pretty stupid if I get there at 8, and they're all gone already. I mean, literally there would be no point in reserving one then?

Shipping to your door was free, or at least mine was.
The drawback is that someone needs to be there to sign for it, Thursday the 24th.

But to be safe, I would definitely be there no later than 7am to get one.

Did you guys pre-order them, if you pre-order them they should have enough for the pre-orders. I'm planning to just go in and upgrade mines ahha hopefully it don't sell out since this cingular is kind've hidden with barely anyone going there.

I thought about the shipping, but obviously there's the whole someone has to sign for it stuff. Or UPS might just leave it at the front door. While my neighborhood is safe, I wouldn't want to chance it, lol.

skelevirus: where did you read that? I was thinking that Apple should've included in the confirmation that indicate what time you HAVE to be at the store to guarantee delivery. That would help with the flow of the store, and not have people pissed off.

I just got off the phone with the customer service, you have order it on at&t.com or cingular and have them either ship it to your home or to the store. So you will have it for sure since you paid for it.

Yeah well, that's exactly what makes it worse.

You go into the store only to find out that it's all out. That would be totally ass.

It'll be much like the iPad, if you pre-order it it will be there on launch day. One note of caution, some resellers taking iPad pre-orders were only holding the devices until 5pm on the launch day and any that were not picked by the deadline were released back into the wild...
