Finally, MMS ...yes, one of the most BASIC features of messaging, will finally be supported, though not at launch next week. AT&T says "late summer". How did this most basic feature get overlooked?? This is why I have stalled my iphone purchase until now. I am interested to see how well baked the voice control app is. That looks very slick. I'm also crossing my fingers on the supposed increase in battery life. Hope that has made a significant improvement.
To Craig's point on 4G, It will be at least a year, and at that time, you would be elegible for a discounted upgrade

I will NOT be upgrading. I bought the original phone the first day it came out then signed another 2 years for 3G. I hardly use the minutes and want to cancel contract to go to prepaid on t-mobile. My buddy already has the 3.0 software, I will likely be installing it tonight. 3GS isn't anything special really. 3megapixel camera, a measly 1megapixel boost. and a compass, whos going to use a compass? Not me, I don't find myself in the woods, and if I did I would use GPS to get back on to a road. Another iphone in about 6 months anyway.

The faster processor is a huge upgrade. The new phone also supports HSDPA at 7.2 mbps, something the prior gen 3G doesn't... AT&T is rolling out HSDPA 7.2 from this year.

i just think calling something 3GS, 3G+, whatever is a marketing gimmick that will sucker people in quickly. i say market the phone for its real upgrade. the processor and memory. i think the 3GS has wrongly become the focal point of the upgrade

i guess i didnt consider the fact that the reason they can get away with calling it 3G"S" is because of a HSDPA upgrade. either way, i have a 3G and i will wait for 4G it will be here soon enough. you are right though, the processor will be a huge upgrade, as that is the only thing slowing my phone down. to each their own. if you dont have an iphone or you have the Edge Iphone, now might be a good time.
