like I said, I'm keepin' my dough for mods 
which is not to say that its not exciting that the Apple store will have lines again - I'll be taking pictures of them as I'm passing by in my modded bimmer with my crappy 2MPX iPhone cam and maxing out my tiny little 8 gig storage... all while having no magnetometer - nor an idea of why in the world I'd ever even bother thinking about a reason one would possibly consider thinking about fitting one onto a friggin' phone! And nope, I won't be mad if your phone's better than mine - especially, since mine and 3G S look, well, identical...But hey, I'm not knocking it - I'd upgrade for, like, 10-20 bucks. But all this hype usually means that Apple is preparing to make its shareholders happy yet again with an overpriced sold-out gadget that nobody knew they NEEDED until it actually came out....

Like swajames pointed out the 3G S will be a massive upgrade from all points of view but most important hardware capabilities and speed, things that no jailbrake can do or recreate.
I will however buy this when it gets out, as i already dropped my 16 GB white iPhone several times and it has small dents here and there....i know i know... i just suffer so much when i see a damaged Apple product
What amazed me the most is some of the new features the OS 3.0 bring, like the remote wipe in case phone is stolen (for mobile me customers).
But i hardly can wait for one BIG thing. OSX 10.6 and especially Snow Leopard Server.
