What would you have?
Personally I like Toyota cars because they are so damn cheap. Camry/Corolla owner here both cars 120k+. Oil changes twice a year and still run great.
For a "Fun" beater maybe an S2K or an older E36 M3?

i want something that feels and drives like a tank. something i can smash snow through snow drifts with and not care if i f it up.....an old bronco would be fun.
if i was going to choose a beater for a car it would be a geo metro. i always thought it would be fun to tear one of those up. neutral drops, ebrake slides, and other destructive things sound like a good time in an old pos metro.

FYI some people have been buying up Geo Metro's and reselling them because they are super gas savers and economical cars. This was more rampant when gas prices were sky high.. not its not like they are that much cheaper. We've just been desensitized to the increase.
A Honda or Toyota sound like the most logical beater/daily since they have a relatively low maintenance cost and usually have decent to good gas mileage.

We have a 1990 Ford Bronco in my backyard that my Dad bought a couple years ago to move our boat. I think he drove it to work today actually to get the engine running
