You know what we need? A mod/button in our cars which turn on the brake lights when they get too close for comfort. Yeah, it'll give em a good scare.
You have such a button, called the brake pedal.
Leave your right foot on the gas and just TOUCH the brake pedal with the left foot. The brake lights switch on long before your brake pads touch the brake discs.

The simple fact is that people just don't know how to drive,
and they think that their car protecs them from all injuries.

The fact is, by many studies made, all drivers think they are better than the average driver.

All drivers, around the world, should renew their licenses every 5th year,
and get a educational lesson of what a car crash is and what it may cause.
The problem with the driver education classes, at least in California, is that they don't focus on courtesy and safe driving; mostly just on following the rules. You gotta stress things like yeah, stay out of the left lane if you're not passing but also things like, if you're stopped at an intersection and sitting in the right lane, planning to go straight, move to the left most side of that lane so any cars behind you wanting to turn right can get by. Or constantly scan other cars around you to see who may be preparing to change lanes into yours so you can either speed up or slow down. Or even the simple things like turning on your signals if you're about to make a turn. I can go on and on......

This happens because you call the left lane "the fast lane". If left lane was called "the overtaking lane", things would be better for you to understand and for all people behind you enjoy their driving moments. Think about it ...you are "the problem" not others behind you. Also you are not "the law"!! If you continue doing things like this, some day you will kill someone, maybe a whole family...
Nick: Efharisto ekato fores for that post.

I am a proactive driver, looking a quarter mile down the road to ascertain when I should move into the "overtaking lane" to overtake slower traffic.

I've driven extensively in Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Ontario for most of my adult life, and Michigan drivers are by far the worst, many believe they have a sense of entitlement to drive at any legal speed (above 45 mph) in any lane.

Ontario drivers seem to be the most courteous when you are in the left lane looking to pass. They generally signal and move to the right lane as soon as traffic permits and they usually switch back to the left lane once you pass.

Ohio drivers generally move over, however, occasionally they need to be prodded with 3 or 4 flicks of the highway phasers (err high beams to get their attention).

Pennsylvania drivers are the most obstinate, as most fear to exceed the speed limit because of the hefty fines for speeding in the Commonwealth. They will go 56 in a 55 in the left lane, even if there is no traffic, and they will not move. Needless to say, I've done more than my fair share of passing from the right lane in those instances.

I also happen to practice what I preach . . . if I'm in the middle or left lane of an interstate and observe a car gaining on me at a high rate of speed, I move signal and move over as soon as I am able.

If everyone observed the Golden Rule while driving, we would all: (i) be far better off; and (ii) have lower blood pressure.

I don't think there is one on the US cars unless it was only available on certain years.

when I had electric blinds, thats when I put them up and the person at the back would normally backoff. They only stick to the bumper because they can see past your car. When that vision is lost, only a total idiot would continue to keep pressing on so close. If this is the case, you better let the bozo pass ASAP. Can't tell what can happen with the dimwit at the back.

cheers

ps: On occasions like this, I always wish I had fitted some washer jets just under the rear bumper to spray my used engine old on to the fool at the back,... 007 style. BTW, anyone here on E60 done this super mod already?

Open your sunroof and throw something at them. I like to pretend I'm in Mario Kart, so I throw a banana and hope they slip on it so I can win the race.
