So my guess its the trailer clutch???

[/quote]Yep. It's the connection for the power and the lights for your trailer. The Trailer clutch is not on there, it's in the trunk, you just put it on when you need it. That's why there is a plastic cover in the middle of the rear bumper.

And I'll bet that u don't even have a trailer. You just ordered it because it was on the options list. I wonder what is the most optioned E60 out there. Not necessarily in the forum but out somewhere in the big bad world.
There was a story just before the Maybach was launched. A guy who pre-ordered a 62 then asked for a tow-bar.
Obviously such an item was not on the options - who the hell would tow using a Maybach. And he had his personal SA (or whatever upmarket name MB were using) running around like a blue-arsed-fly talking to engineering/designers and whoever would listen about adding a tow bar. As it turned out he was only jesting but he let it run for a while. Nice one.
