You've pressed the odometer reset button and left it in for 15 seconds.
Then hold for 5 seconds to progress through the different menus?

To be honest i haven't got a clue and i didn't want to be the dumbass asking this in the regular forums so i used your topic to sneak 'm in here

I reckon the ICE is suffering ice COLD TURKEY. Have no doubt.
As soon as he gets to a PC he'll probably start reading the whole forum in its entirety from post #1. You'll get your answer.

BTW, thats how u got in to the menus. Press the odometer reset?

press odo reset, switch ignition key to position 1 while holding the odo reset button and as soon as you see the mungojungo appear release the button. After that you can scroll through different screens with obscure digits (one of them is your VIN)

I think those codes that are displayed don't mean much -- at least to us. It was speculated a while back that you could determine the CIP software version using this method but nobody has ever figured it out (or they've concluded that the CIP information isn't there.) For what it's worth, you could display a similar set of codes using the same method on the E39.

Its likely that those codes are embedded in the instrument cluster only and have no connection to other parts of the car. The VIN is there because the cluster has to be "married" to the car -- probably because of the odometer.

I'm always working overtime. Most of the time i'm behind the computer from 6:00am - 12:00pm

In between I try to find some relaxation time.

Hint for the previous picture:
