There is a market by me that sells them live, in the tank. When I lived in San Fran, we used to go abalone diving up in Mendocino. We had to get a license to dive for them. 3 was the max and they had to be 7 inches or bigger. However, after a Great White Shark ripped the head off a diver, we no longer made the trip. so its a type of snail?? Howcome ive never heard of these before? I dont see them in restaurants or sushi places... and why on earth were your heating it on a stovetop??
