My wife was in her 10 month old 2008, Honda Odyssey, when she somehow ended up in a shallow ditch. As she tried to back out, the wheels started spinning and friction caused the dry grass to catch fire (the fire fighters' theory). Before the fire quickly engulfed the entire car, my wife managed to escape with our 10 month old baby. Thank God no one was hurt although it was a mentally stressful experience for her.
Now she refuses to sit in another minivan/SUV. She wants a car.
I'm torn between the 2009 Audi A4 Quattro and the Mercedes C300 AWD. We already have my 535i, so we decided to go with a different flavor rather than get another BMW.
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance.

Holy crap! Glad they're OK. That's scary. Either car, you can't go wrong for comfort, safety, and all that, but the new A4 looks hot. Just to keep it in the family, how about a 3 series like Waco suggested? My sister has an '06 325xi and loves it.

I am very happy to hear that your wife and child escaped unharmed. As for replacement car, go with the C300 4Matic. Great choice.
That is the exact same car that I am researching for my wife's first car. I also did not want to go with 2 BMWs unless it was going to be an SUV.

Sorry to hear about her mishap. atleast no one was hurt. Strange thing about your wife's van. I wonder if there was a leak in the fuel after she got in to a ditch and yes, the friction on the tire spinning could have caused fire.
