Happy Ramadan Tarek. Is it just me, or is it falling a bit early this year?

Thanks for clarifying. The first time I went to Egypt Ramadan was being celebrated in November. I didn't realize that has been five years ago!
Oh wow, so you got to see Ramadan celebrated in Egypt...nice!

A happy Ramadan to all who observe it.
Although I'm not Muslim, having grown up in Malaysia, I have had the pleasure of joining my Muslim neighbours as they break fast at sunset and sampling all the lovely sweetmeats that suddenly appear to be had for this purpose.
@CWS530: the Islamic calendar is lunar, having 12 months of exactly 4 weeks each, so things do move around.
I took my hat off to my Muslim classmates in university in Scotland back in 1989, when Ramadan fell in the summer and they effectively had to fast for 15 hours or more a day given the sunrise and sunset at those high latitudes.

ps; in places where the sun doesn't come up for many many hours people are advised to fast according to the times of mecca, because you are not supposed to fast if it will hurt you or make you sick, instead you can feed poor people, also ofcourse preganant women, children, old people don't have to fast, and people who are travelling also don't have to fast, ect..

As you know, I went back to Cairo a few months ago, but it wasn't the same since I had to work almost the whole time and it wasn't a holiday season. Can't wait to go back and get to the beaches and other parts. Inshallah.
