You forgot the Cristmas (Office) Party, where you are always guaranteed that someone has a glass or two too many and seriously embarasses themselves. Always a highlight of the festive period...

Cheers and a "Merry" hic Christmas to you too

Don't forget Hanukkah either guys.

As for Turkey, I have a question... Why the hell couldn't the Pilgrims have chosen a 15 lb lobster, instead of a 15lb bird? For one, Turkey makes you sleepy and tired. Second, 90% of families out there over cook it and all the sides taste like crap too. I mean seriously, as Pilgrim Bob was settling on this fine piece of land we call the USA, he should have just trolled the waters and pulled together a few giant lobsters.

Thanksgiving would taste so much better if they did.
It's a myth that Turkey was the main dish at the first Thanksgiving. In fact there were other meats like venison and waterfowl. The native Indians also presented the governor with 5 deer as a gift during this celebration. The celebration ("Giving Thanks") was for a good harvest of corn which the native Indians helped the pilgrims grow.

Without the native Indians help, the first pilgrims would have most likely not survived.

Christmas to me is...

- Beer
- Wine
- Turkey
- Time off work
- Presents
- Excited kids
- Lights and decorations
- Fun
- Christmas songs
To add a Scandinavian twist to it - I delete the turkey and throw in some http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gl?gg instead.

Our management saw to the end of that fun. They're afraid that someone would wreck on the way home and sue the company. Just like a bartender can be punished for serving a drunk person.

So, our Christmas party is a ham/turkey lunch buffet at the office where you spend 20 minutes in line, get your food, hear "Merry Christmas" from the managers, and go find a place to sit in a conference room to eat right next to folks you work with all the time. After 15 minutes, its back to work. Bah humbug! I can't forget to mention our Christmas bonus. Its a pen, pencil, or coffee mug trinket with the corporate logo.

Don't believe a word of it. A simple disclaimer that everybody has to sign "I will not hold the company responsible if after drinking, I then drive (against the advice of the company) and crash and die" would allow it to go ahead.

The truth is that your company is run/owned by a tight, mean, grumpy old fart who is probably single, most likely divorced, and had a very unhappy child hood.

...or successfully sued his last employer after getting drunk at the office christmas lunch and doesn't want some bright spark trying the same to him! Would fit nicely with Russ' portrait of the perfect "Bah humbug Boss" booo tssss
