I was recently offerred $15K for my SS Daytona as they had a buyer at $16,500. I did not sell nor do I plan to in the future but that blew my mind.

When I was living in Singapore, the wait for a stainless steel Daytona was 12 to 18 months if you wanted to pay MSRP. The demand was and still is so high the price to have one immediately is between US$13k ~ US$15k depending on how much the retailer wanted to rip you off! Rolex actually have a very large office with a service center, and if you ask one of the customer service representatives how long the usual wait is, they will tell you it should be no more than 6 months and that no retailer should be charging a premium of MSRP. Anyhow... US$9.8k should be close to MSRP. If someone offered me US$15k for my Daytona, I'd sell it in a second and place an order for a new one at US$9.8!

In Korea, the stainless steel Daytona will cost you about US$18k and you have to wait between 6 to 12 months.

Yeah...AD's can't markup! Not sure why someone would want one ASAp and pay the 2X premium?

I remember when I bought my first Rolex......That was the worst day for me, it sparked a hobby that is very very expensive. I have had every model Rolex there is to have. My favorite by far was my yellow gold president. I have now moved on to more sophisticated brands such as Patek and IWC and in a wierd twist started being a broker for Rolex watches. If anyone is looking for a Rolex I bet I can beat any price hands down. I have one of the best connections in the diamond district in LA that get me anything I need, so just let me know

Here are a few shots of the watches I have had. Enjoy.

In Asia, everyone marks up! Especially on popular models. I buy most of my watches in Singapore (with a shop I've done business with on many occasions, they don't mark up on me) or the duty free at the International Airport here. For some reason, duty free shops don't mark up. Which is good!

Cars, watches, photography... we have some expensive hobbies!

You're right... Hyundai, Casio and Samsung could bring down hobby expenditures!
