Anyways, I'm thrilled with my purchase but weary of the scratches-to-come on the center links of my band
If the center links become scratched, take the watch into a Rolex service center and have them polish any scratches out for you~ Congrats on the new watch. I know you will enjoy it! Why? I have the exact same one that I got about a month ago!

Yes...the RSC will get your watch back to new condition. Not like-new, but new!

Little factoid for Rolexphiles...did you know Rolex is a not for profit organization?

Alex is right...

The company is 100% owned by a private trust (foundation) as are many European companies that are not traded publicly. The trust in turn donates a large percentage or all of the profits to charity.

Another company that operates in the same manner is the Bosch Group (yes Bosch as in the company that makes many of the components in our BMWs) is operated in the same manner. The Bosch Foundation owns 100% of the Bosch Group and donates all profits to charity.

Another factoid... Rolex was originally a London based British company that moved it's headquarters to Geneva, Switzerland to avoid high British taxes~

Interesting! How much wear has your gmt shown in the month you've had it? Also- on the top triangle (between the 2 and 22 on the bezel) is yours a solid white filled in triangle or is it slightly brighter around the outside and dimmer in the center. Did that description make sense?

Collecting watches is one of my hobbies, so I have a few. My Rolex GMT has no scratches on it yet, but I don't wear it on a daily basis. I have friends that wear their Rolexes all the time and depending on how rough or careful they are, my friends take in their watches to RSC once every year to two years for service and polishing. As for the triangle on the bezel, my triangle is solid white. The bezel itself is scratch proof ceramic and its color should not change. It may get dirty, but it should go back to its original color after cleaning.

If the fading is readily visible to extreme, you should take the watch to shop you bought it at and request that bezel be serviced/changed or take it to your nearest RSC. Since the watch is hand crafted, there slight variations from sample to sample, but I have yet to see a Rolex that has imperfections that are visible to the naked eye.

This "fading" folks are speaking of at the top of the bezel is likely nothing more than discoloration from wiping or cleaning the bezel. A quick wipe doesn't get into the corners, so those appear to be a different shade. The center, the part being wiped will look darker if memory serves. A properly cleaned and dried bezel will look perfect. The platinum in the numerals and the triangle is baked into the ceramic. It would take a lot to get it off.
