Not true. Firefox does not rely on any of the Windows settings, so why Chrome.
Firefox may hide it better, but it's essentially doing the same thing...

Anyway - what's the big deal? If you like Chrome, use it. If not, stick to IE or Firefox.

I am ... I use it for my usual browsing. I find that it's a lot faster than the usual FF and IE out there. However, when developing web applications, I switch to FF due to the numerous plug-ins that it allows for.

Just to clarify, this is regarding the proxy settings feature between both browsers. By default, Chrome has it's own native Options page (window).

Its not the question of hide, its the question of keeping everything separate.

Yes but when you set the proxy in Chrome, IE takes that new setting too.
Because it's where you make the generic network and connection settings for windows...

You can't. And that's down to Windows, not Chrome per se.

Thats my point. If FF allows me to, why not Chrome.

Not sure why it should matter. Safari also works the exact same way as Chrome on a Windows machine.

my new fav feature is speed dial, you can tell it everytime you start it to load your favorite pages.

Yep, Opera is a great browser (as is OmniWeb on the Mac).
