You can't tell much from this. You never really know who is playing with light fuel and hot set-ups to try to close some sponsorship deals, vs. teams working with more fuel and race set-ups. I'm very disappointed that BMW is clearly aiming at podium finishes only, not expecting wins on merit this year.

On the last statement i must agree with pingu. They are still a young team, but until now i'm very pleased with their results. Could have been better but overall results were more than fine. 2 podiums and 5th place in the constructors championship (in front of Toyota, which has the biggest budget in F1) is not something to overlook, especially if the deed is acomplished in the 1st year in F1 as a stand-alone team.

Didn't MB buy a majority stake in McLaren? I know they keep buying more and R. Dennis and TAG have been selling.
I wasn't clear in my statement. I'm not disappointed by the results, they improved upon Sauber's results, and they are making progress. The engine group is great, as they showed at Williams. It seems they are making the right steps with the chassis. They have a real find in Kubicza, I believe.
So my disappointment is in the statements coming from the team that seem to be all about setting low expectations. Frankly, with a great engine they should be shooting for wins, maybe not at every track, and I just dislike settling for podiums before the first race is run.

Hehe although we are talking about MB here, don't you underestimate them. Let's wait and see what they came up with for 2007. Having Alonso by their side could improve the comunication between driver and engineers, the comunication that lacked when Kimi was around.
