Now, now guys. Remember, Mel is driving a genuine race vehicle tomorrow at Pocono. Many of us testosterone toting guys would not have the nerve to do what she's doing. Win, but first of all, be safe, Mel.

lolol.. this is funny to read.. glad everyone pictured me sweaty.. anyways.. the suit didnt quite look like that.. although it kinda resembles my halloween costume.. lol.. but seriously.. it was one of the most exhilerating crazy things ive done..lol..
we started with a 45 min class to learn the rules of the track.. then proceded to the stockcar where they showed us everything...
then we got measured for our individual cars, me being so tall and all...lol it was an instructor in the front.. gradually increasing speeds as he would speak to the guys around the track, in the tower, pit.. etc.. i was following my husband joe.. so just the 3 of us.. other cars out on the track as well in groups of 3. if one group was going slower then another they would drop to the lower circle of the track and the faster group would pass.. which happened to be my group.. (i dont mess around)
anyways.. i bought 40 miles.. which consists of to different rides completing 8 laps each.. so as we came back into the pit after completing our first 8 laps.. they had me dive my car into another lane and then they put me in front of joe.. when i asked why the instructor told me that i was holding the line better then my husband (im woohaaa-ing at this point) so they wanted me to go in front right behind the instructor in case joe fell behind.. (he didnt)

we were sweating our asses off (which i cant afford) and i think i drove the track with a permanent smile.. it was sick.. the biggest adrenaline rush ever... on our second 8 laps i held the instructors ass the whole time.. once your out of the pit in 4th gear you stay there.. no more gears.. we rode around the track on the straighways about 8300 rpm's and on the turns (3 of them around 7800 rpm's.. so according to there charts 8000 rpm's put you over 160 mph.. so i was over that for sure.. my crew guy in the pit told me i was driving better then some of the guys there.. and he also said alot of the girls do for the very few that do the drive.. it was a nice compliment anyway..

when i first pulled out of the pit i felt like on the turns the tires were like magnetically stuck to the ground.. at one cone you ease up on the gas.. orange cone you turn into the lower part of the turn and at the end cone you nail it coming out of the turn.. when you do this its the best friggen part IMO... you feel the car doing what its made to do.. it hugs the ground the tires grip, the g-force of the turns are sick.. kindda creepy till you go around once or twice.. but after that..its amazing.. i have so much respect for these drivers.. really

i was so locked into that car.. that initially when the guy strapped me in i couldnt move.. AT ALL.. then after i got my helmet on he snapped my helmet to the car..he said this strap would have saved dale earnhardts life if they had them back then.. thats why they have them now.. his head was basically decapitated (but on the inside) not on the outside... snapped his neck right off his spine.. ANYWAYS.. on that note.. i got a tiny bit freaked out, felt claustrophobic for a min.. couldnt even turn left or right.. but once i started driving its clear why it has to be that way.. im going to upload a few pics.. hard to even see my car.. its the number 4, purple and black.. and if anyone ever wants to try it.. believe me it will be an experience you will never ever forget! i cant wait to do it again..

although maybe next time i go will be in cooler months..cause sunday the air was thiiiicccckkkk... Mel..
