You should drive up to LA as well.. It's just about 3 hrs drive from Las Vegas.

There should be more entertainments for your family there..

If you're a Star Trek fan, there's a ride at one of the hotels in Vegas - can't recall which... MGM maybe?

Check out the newest hotel - the Wynn. It is pretty amazing. The best shopping is probably a toss-up between Caesar's Palace and the Wynn. They have an exotic car display inside the Wynn - they have some incredible stuff there. Inside Caesars they have the new Arturo Fuente store if you like cigars - they have all the hard to find cigars there in his line and will be stocked up with some good stuff for Xmas.

I go to Las Vegas 3 - 4 times per year for "work" and I eat at Nobu everytime I go (get the black cod). If you are over 25, however, staying at the Hard Rock will make you feel like an old man.

Stayed at the Wynn last week for the first time. Very nice and the cars are amazing, though they do charge a $10 admission fee.

Yup - Black Cod with Miso. Da bomb!!! The sashimi salad is pretty impressive too.

"BUTTERFISH or SABLEFISH or BLACK COD
Exceptionally rich and flavorful, the small (average 8 ounces), high-fat butterfish has dark, sweet, tender meat and rich flavor. Sablefish is the most expensive bottomfish landed by U.S. fishermen. Although more than 90% of the sablefish catch is exported to Japan, a growing number of chefs in the U.S. are learning to appreciate the buttery taste and texture of this unique fish. Although they are called black cod, sablefish do not belong to the cod family. They belong to the Anoplopomatidae family, a unique group of fish. Usually sold whole, it makes for a great pan preparation. Occasionally, they are found smoked. Depending on the region, they're also known as Dollarfish, Shiner, Pumpkin-Seed, Starfish, Pomfret, Harvestfish, and Pacific Pompano."

Haven't been to nobu in vegas yet, but I somewhat frequent it's sister restuarant, matsuhisa in socal and I'll agree, the black cod with miso sause is dope. Though, you have to also try the seabass with truffles, one step above the black cod IMO. Also going omakase is definately the route to go.

So from reading that little excerpt, is black cod similar or the same as butterfish. If this is the case, I might lay off the black cod from now on. The high fat/oil content within butterfish also offers a quite nasty side effect, at least when consumed in large amounts. I wish this were not the case, as it is quite tasty, but I will be laying of the butterfish and maybe the black cod from now on.

I've been there once for the new years eve celebrations.
It's awsome. So many people, the strip is closed for vehicles, even the hotels/casinos close for the general public around midnight, you need to be a registered guest to have access.
We've been there for the Siegfried & Roy show, their last new years eve show...
