Get pulled over for 70% tint in the bay area

My Ride: 07 BMW 525i Premium Package, Xenon Lighting Package, manual Transmission. Titanium Grey, 20% Tint around the back, 70% V-Kool on front.
Planned mods: Style 71 wheels with Toyo Proxy 4 tires, Sachs suspension upgrade, upgraded stereo, and many more to come.
Well, the cop didn't really pull me over for the tint at first. I was on a on-ramp car pooled after 9am. So I thought I was safe to get on there, but apparently he said all on ramp carpooled is 24 hours enforced...
So he decide to let me go on the carpool since I really don't know about that rule and it wasn't clear on the on-ramp, but he decides to give me a front window tint ticket. I have the V-kool front tint which is 70% tint (yes, 70%). From the outside, you can clearly see through the window, he has to ask me to roll down the window to see thru the edge that I have this super light tint. Damn it he gave me a fix-it ticket!
Is it really not allow front tints at all in CA? Any cop members to clarify? I really don't want to take that off, esp for such light tint...
This happen on the 237 on ramp by mccarthy... I don't want to take it off or pay $194 for bail forfeiture.......

Correct, there is no legal amount of tint for front windows in CA, sorry. That is not to say people here don't have front tint, I have 5% on the rear glass and 35% on the front, doesn't look as symetrical as I would like, but I get pulled over a lot less. 
BTW, the only time I have gotten a ticket in CA for my tint is in Santa Clara, it seems NorCal is MUCH stricter than the SoCal cops.
