General question about selling something
#1
Well I have made the decision to sell my bike, I now owe less on it then i can get for it. i havent ridden it in 6 months. my question is, if i want to sell it privately and still have a lein on it, what are my options? do i need to shell out the cash to pay it off before selling it? who is going to give me money when i cant hand them a title on the spot. i would imagine i could pay it off and get the title expedited for a few bucks within a few days
anyone have any experience with this?

i just dont want to pay it off until i know it is sold because it is a terrible loan and the interest is already built in to the cost of the loan. i would rather pay down debt that will save me money. basically, i just dont want to dish out 4K and then not sell it. that 4K would be better used elsewhere

I take it the bike isn't financed locally? If it were, you could meet with your buyer and a loan officer at the bank to complete the transaction, and pay off the difference at that time so the title will be free and clear.
