C, are you familiar with the continuous shooting mode of the G10? My G3 had it and my G11 has it (the G11 also has a "kids & pets" mode that's supposed to help capture shots of subjects that don't stay still.)

With continuous shooting mode, you can use the optical viewfinder and hold down the shutter and fire off frames at around 1.1 images per second. I realize it still may not be as fast as an SLR but I tend to agree that going to an SLR from the G10 may not be something that will solve all your problems (it may even create a few more...)

Good luck with whatever you decide!
you need to get an SLR also

The G11 rocks! SLRs, although nice, are too bulky and a pain in the ass in my opinion. If I needed an assortment of lenses, etc., I'd have one. (I have plenty of old-fashioned film ones from back in the day...)

The little G-series Canon's are awesome i want a G9(G10/G11 don't have timelaspe) with a Gigapan crazy pictures!!!!

That D90 set up with the 70-300 for 1440 doesn't sound too bad.

I decided to go with the D5000. In terms of image quality, the D90 and D500 are identical.

Aside from dpreview and the countless threads about this very topic, this is what sold me:

You will find that the lens has a lot to do with how quickly you can shoot too. Having all the other adjustments helps too.

One important thing to keep in mind is how the camera feels in your hands. I like a slightly smaller camera. Many of the higher-end cameras are huge and heavy. You have to enjoy holding the camera and feel comfortable with it in your hands. When you throw on larger lenses it is only going to be bulkier....

Go to a good camera shop where they have EXPERTS. Hold a few cameras, explain to them what you want to do. Some places (like Penn Camera in the DC Metro area) will rent cameras. You can take a few out and try them for the weekend and make an informed decision!

Good luck.

By the way - I upgraded from my D60 to a D5000 last year and like that camera.

I'd say go with the T2i C.

The kit lens (18-55IS) really isn't a bad lens.
